Family Separation Statement

Centering brings expectant and new families together in community, as we strive for better health outcomes and stronger, healthier families. The abhorrent practice of separating families at the U.S. Border is contrary to our mission and values. Separating babies and young children from their parents and caregivers can have a profound effect on their physical and mental health throughout their lifetime. The Centering Healthcare Institute stands with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American College of Nurse Midwives (ACNM), American Psychological Association (APA), American Public Health Association (APHA), American College of Physicians (ACP) and healthcare professionals across the country in urging the federal government to end the separation of migrant children from their caregivers.
