CHI commends many Centering sites that were able to provide healthy food for their families in partnership with food banks and other access-focused organizations since the pandemic outbreak. Strategies such as bringing farmers’ market items into the group session or providing a clinic-based food pantry have been successful in addressing food insecurity. Your work to continuously provide for your patients has always been inspiring. As sites transitioned to virtual groups, it has become challenging to provide food access. CHI has received a generous grant from the Bezos Family Foundation to support healthy food distribution to Centering families. This Food Security Initiative aims to address the challenges of food insecurity associated with living in food deserts, under-resourced communities or for families impacted by COVID-19.Centering sites can apply for grants that range between $5,000 - $10,000 to implement a food distribution program. Interested sites need to complete all application requirements by July 6, 2021.Click here to apply.
