We are thrilled that the Centering Leader Kit will be back in stock next week! The price remains the same, but all of the enhancements and updates are a very big change. You'll see: - Inclusive language and images on all of the new components
- English, Spanish and graphic prompts, for use with many populations and lower literacy groups
- Customizable write-in cards that are fun, easy and eco-friendly
- A cool new spinner replacing the feelings dice, that can be used with a variety of activities
- A home safety poster for thoughtful safety discussions

Thanks Marena, it's obvious a lot of thought has gone into this. I am wondering if there will be a provision for folks who already own a leader's kit but want to purchase just the updates so they are current.

Thanks for the question, John. We have given a lot of thought to that too. There is just so much that is new in this box and our intention was to be mindful of designing components that can be used for a variety of activities, within many types of Centering groups. While we appreciate that a site may be interested in updating just the cards, or replacing their cups or adding the new child proofing home safety poster or spinner we simply do not have the capacity to inventory and sell each of the individual components of the kit.
We hope that everyone will see the value of purchasing the updated kit in its entirety.

Hi Marena- We have been using the Centering Leader Kit for CenteringPregnancy. It would be helpful to have a "what is included in your kit" sheet as some of the items are not labeled and for first time facilitators, it can be difficult to decipher what some items are used for. Or is this included in most boxes but ours didn't have one? Thanks- Jennifer

Hi Jennifer,
The items in the current Leader Kit were designed to be used for a variety of activities, and with many types of Centering groups. Our intention was to build in some flexibility so they could be used for different patient populations and to inspire creative ways to explore/revisit key topics. If you are using the new CenteringPregnancy Facilitator's Guide you'll note there are references throughout the guide as to where/how to use these resources.
Included in the Leader Kit are:
Agree/Disagree Discs Cups (Smile and Neutral Faces) and pompoms Talking stick Musical chime Yarn My Body Knows Card (English & Spanish) Home safety poster
Spinner Card sets for: Breastfeeding Comfort Measures Personal Goals Mental Health Intimate Partner Violence Baby Care and Safety Oral Health Family Planning Small and large write-in cards
Hope this is helpful!

It appears there are no longer Stages of Labor Cards in the new kit, is this correct? If this is the case, can someone explain the decision to leave these out? They are highly utilized in our practice. (And I guess we can make our own set?) Thanks!

Hi Jo,
We did discontinue the stages of labor cards after receiving mixed feedback regarding how useful they were. There are several suggestions in the CenteringPregnancy Facilitator's Guide (session 5 & 6) for other ways to approach the topic using new conversation starters, the spinner and a continuum activity.
Would love to hear feedback from anyone who has tried some of these new activities.

Thanks, Marena! Helpful to know the whys sometimes.
Also~with regard to the Cups and Questions...do folks do well with this activity? We have been hesitant to implement it and were hoping we could get some experiences to help us roll it out as smoothly as possible. (Other than just jumping in from the guides-- p.88 in Centering Pregnancy guide and p.108 in Centering Healthcare guide.)

I am interested in Centering because: The centering model and facilitative leadership provide families with the support, education & assessments they need to become partners in their own care.

Hi Jo, Nice chatting today! Not all of our facilitators use the cups in their groups, but when we do a training at Kaiser SJO, we like to include this activity so that participants have more activities in their toolkits after our workshop. We sometimes pull topic cards or make new cards to reflect what our patients might concerns/interests might be. Hope this helps!
