Hello all! I will be starting to facilitate Centering Parenting groups at my clinic in January. I'm currently trying to figure out how our schedule template needs to look. I will be doing groups on Mondays, and currently planning to do 3 groups per day.
First question - does this sound feasible to those with experience? Here's what the group day schedule will tentatively look like:
8:00-10:00am - Group 1 10:00am - 11:00am - charting/prepping for next group 11:00am-1:00pm - Group 2 1:00-2:00pm - charting/prepping for next group 2:00-4:00 - Group 3 4:00-5:00 - charting/wrapping up for the day
Second question: My goal is that I am doing groups weekly, every Monday. I think we will have enough patients to support this. How do I lay out a template for what age group I'm scheduling for when? Eventually I will have Centering Pregnancy groups transitioning into Parenting, but we are just getting our Centering Pregnancy up and running as well, so to start, I'll be booking patients who haven't gone thru Pregnancy. So should I schedule a 2 week group every Monday? Every other Monday? I know as time goes on, if I get too many groups going I'll run out of space to book their future groups, but it's kind of boggling my mind trying to come up with a starter template. Any suggestions are welcome!! Thanks in advance!

Hello Anne,
When CenteringCounts online launches, it will have a built-in scheduling tool that will schedule all of your visits by start date. I realize that does not help you today, but wanted to share the math that we built into the system. This may at least help you start and get an idea of how quickly you will be using all three sessions:
Session 1: Group Start [GS]
Session 2: GS+30 days
Session 3: GS+120
Session 4: GS+180
Session 5: GS+270
Session 6: GS+365
Session 7: GS+450
Session 8: GS+540
Session 9: GS+730
Hopefully one of our CenteringParenting schedulers will chime in with a bit more detail for you - thank you for asking!

Is the math on this correct? Or should it be GS + 30 then + 60 then + 120?
Please clarify...or our schedule are very wrong

Hi, We just started CenteringParenting in May 2017 and now have 3 groups going. The plan was to start a group per quarter and we may increase in 2018 to a group start every couple of months. I'm not sure what you mean by a "2 week group". Can you elaborate?
Depending on the number of groups members, I would suggest spacing out the times a bit. I don't think an hour will give you enough time to prep for the next group. We've found that even tho our groups end on time, these are parents with babies and baby paraphenalia, and diaper changes and breastfeeding, and car seats, etc so it takes 15-30 minutes to clear the room. We also do immunizations at the end so that also takes time. We try to do closing a few minutes early to get that process started.
When are you going to eat or go to the bathroom?
Best,
Judy

Judy Hi Judy - I don't believe you can have a wrong schedule, it's up to you to schedule what works best. We're just following the AAP Periodicity Schedule which includes ranges for when visits should happen. We based our math on "by one month," "by two months," "by four months," "by six months," etc. So between four and six months we just chose the middle or our scheduling template in CenteringCounts online.
