South Carolina Centering Consortium Meeting
Please confirm attendance with sarahck (Sarah Covington-Kolb), South Carolina Consortium Leader
A message from Sarah:
This fall’s Centering Consortium meeting will be in the afternoon on November 10th after the South Carolina Birth Outcomes Initiative Symposium, in the same facility (Columbia Convention Center).
I encourage you to send some representatives from your practice to the symposium in the morning - the Birth Outcomes Initiative (BOI) meetings are an excellent opportunity to participate in an exciting and very effective coalition dedicated to healthy mothers and healthy pregnancies in our state.
In the afternoon, we have a full agenda for the Consortium meeting. We will start with a combined session and go through updates from each site and from the state level. Then we will branch off into two groups – one group will be for administrators. They will discuss administrative, billing, and management issues. I am going to have a representative from SC Medicaid there to help us with billing questions. I am also inviting reps from the Medicaid Managed Care Organizations and BCBCSSC, so if you have one of the reps who is from your area that you would like me to particularly invite, please send along their contact info. The second group will be for Centering facilitators, and you will spend time with our CHI consultant, Mary Alice Grady, on group facilitation and clinical issues.
In both groups, I would like for you all to drive the agenda, so please let me know what concerns or challenges you would like us to plan to address.
At least one person from each funded practice must attend the consortium. These are important meetings for us to share information, data, and support. I need someone from each practice there who can report on your clinic’s progress towards our consortium goals (number of women in Centering, site certification status, data collection, etc). I understand that this is a big request, to have someone take a whole day out of your practice, but I don’t ask it often and this will definitely be worth it. Please let me know who from your practice will attend the meeting, which group they want to be in (administration or facilitation), and whether they plan to attend the BOI Symposium beforehand. I will pay for your registration fee to the Symposium for 2 people from each practice.
Please send along all your input and questions. I am looking forward to seeing you again soon!
