I am wondering what everyone's experience is with how your patients hear about Centering at your site? The site I am at has been doing Centering for about a year, but most of that time was focused on following all of the specifications for getting site approval, which we did. I came to the site after all of this was accomplished, and now we are focusing on better recruitment and retention, which means at least some marketing and advertisement. I am curious what other sites have done to promote Centering in the community, besides relying on good ole word of mouth. Newspaper ads? Billboards? Radio or television ads? Advertising on public transportation? I'd love to know your thoughts and what has worked well or not worked well. We are in an inner city area if anyone has experience with that specifically.

Hi Stephanie, There are a number of free resources available to you in the CHI portal including graphics, logos, photos and PR guidelines. Also, upcoming and recorded Circle Up webinars that will be helpful on this topic. Hope to see you on May 1 as Shante Walker, Centering Pregnancy Coordinator at Grady Health Systems in Atlanta facilitates Recruitment, Engagement and Community Engagement. Would be terrific to hear what others are doing!

Hi Marena, Yes, I have been utilizing all of the resources on the portal. One thing that had not been happening at our practice before I came on board was branding, so I am working on getting Centering more visible within our practice and the community in the appropriate ways. I originally did not sign up for that webinar because we have a group that meets at 1:30pm EST, but I am not a facilitator for that group, so I think I will join the webinar instead. Thank you for the reminder! ~Stefanie

This is a great topic for discussion.
Advertising can be an effective strategy to build name recognition and drive information seeking behaviors in healthcare consumers. Name recognition makes patients more receptive to your efforts to educate them about the value of Centering vs traditional care. For urban communities, I have long suspected that billboards and public transportation could be effective advertising media, though I have no empirical evidence to support this. If your clinic is part of a larger health system I suspect your marketing department has pretty good data on the relative success of various advertising media.
On the other hand, word-of-mouth excels in building trust. This can be from personal relationships, social media, or community resources including churches and faith-based groups or WIC.
I think a well constructed campaign would include a combination of advertising and community outreach and support. Whichever strategies you employ, they should have clearly defined success measures, target goals, and processes for ensuring they are consistently implemented and monitored.

Can you help me find the graphics and logos in the portal that you reference above?
Thank you!

Thanks, Tanya Munroe ... Just trying to keep it all current! Should we only be using the circle at this point? I appreciate your help!
~Paula Oh that's a question for my pal Marena Burnett (but I think so, yes)!
