Hi Everyone - So glad you have joined the Centering Community and are wanting to do or are facilitating CenteringDiabetes groups. There is a really good Circle Up Webinar, pre-recorded, from earlier this year titled "Basics of CenteringDiabetes, 101" presented by Misae Vela-Broh, an FNP who has been facilitating CenteringDiabetes for many years. It is an overview of how to engage and recruit patients to the groups, a basic curriculum and much more. I would highly recommend that you watch this on our Pre-Recorded webinars on the Portal. You will need to login with your site license which your coordinator should be able to give you. I am planning on offering another Diabetes webinar in the fall so look for that on the webinar schedule later in the summer! Hope this is helpful for a start to answering your inquiry.

Hello, my name is Judy and we’ve been facilitating diabetic work shops in Arizona. I was also looking for fun ideas for activities. What gave you tried? Another question I have is how to maintain group size of 8-12?

Hi: I looked for the pre-recorded webinar you mentioned "Basics of CenteringDiabetes, 101" and couldn't find it. Can you help direct me?

Also, I created my own curriculum for CenteringDiabetes using the Centering Pregnancy Facilitation Manual and then updated it using the CenteringHealthcare version. I did this as part of my research at my institution as well as part of my DNP Scholarly Project (both still in progress). Is this something that that CHI would be interested in? Who should I contact?

I think so, yes, thank you! Either @lscheidenhelm or Marena Burnett (they work closely together). The webinar is in our online portal www.centeringhealthcare.org/login in the webinars tab. The pre-recorded Circle Ups are listed alphabetically, it looks like this one is on the first page of titles.

Looking at posts made back in 2019, I wonder has there been a lack of Centering groups during COVID time? Has anyone still been performing group visits over the past few years? Our facility is about to start diabetes centering groups and would love any feedback on how group classes look post-COVID.

Hi! I am looking to launch a Centering Diabetes group at our FQHC to integrate into our Food is Medicine program. I re-watched the webinar from 2019, and wanted to see if anyone had a curriculum that they have developed and would be interested in sharing. We have been doing CenteringPregnancy since 2015 and have had great success in integrating our dental team, behavioral health team, pediatricians, clinical nutritionists, and WIC staff into our Centering Groups. We also provide a produce subscription as one of our group incentives. Because of our successes specifically around nutrition, I feel we are ready to expand the Centering model to other populations. I don't want to recreate the wheel if I don't have to!

Love love love this, Jessica! What state are you in? I'm sure there are some wheels out there (CHI diabetes materials were replaced by the flexible "CenteringHealthcare" materials for any patient group).
