Hi Everyone!
I have been on the search for healthy and budget-friendly snacks for our sessions. We currently have morning and evening groups and would love to get some new ideas for our evening group. We currently rotate veggie/fruit trays, hummus, chicken salad, oatmeal bar, and yogurt with granola.
We find snacks a little challenging since we are on a tight budget and the team takes turns helping set up the snack table and purchasing the food. We used to have our patients take turns bringing snacks but we quickly found many struggle financially so we did away with that.
Any other easy and healthy snacks you do for your groups?
Thanks in advance!

Love this post! I would love to hear how others are navigating this as well! We use: Nature's Bakery Fig Bar Variety Packs, Kind Minis Bars Variety Packs, Sargento Balanced Breaks Snack Packs (sometimes), Snyder's of Hanover Mini Pretzels (I try to buy a lot of pretzels when they are on sale, but then run the risk of them expiring!), Hummus, Cheese sticks, Fruit and Veggies. We mainly order from Instacart. Mainly from Costco, and two local grocery stores. But sometimes we use Trader Joe's. (It depends on how many groups for the week, and my schedule.) I found that Costco has the cheapest hummus. (https://www.priceperoz.com/) But it is also easily snatched by employees and uses a lot of plastic. Once we averaged it out at about $1.35 per patient per group. Has anyone else gotten to these specifics? And done it for less? The fresh foods are usually the high ticket items. For our one morning group I bring bananas, dried fruit, nuts, aussie bites, or muffins. If the muffins are not mini, I will cut them into 4s. Sometimes I bring in home grown tomatoes, or fruit that grows on the trees around here! Fabulous and Free, but not always in season or a possibility for all. I know bulk is generally better...less packaging and cheaper. But I worry about things getting stale, or contamination. Thanks again for posting. The snacks are a high priority issue for me. I look forward to lots of great ideas!

Long-term perishables also store nicely in big glass Ball jars (like cereal, nuts, granola) in case that is an option : )

We have been using Bear Creek soup now that the weather has gotten colder. We put it in a crock pot about 2 hrs before sessions and serve with crackers. They are pretty inexpensive I think about $3.50 per pk which feeds eight. We usually have enough with one pk. Add a bowl of grapes or carrots on the side for those who wish.
