We have received a few requests recently to share the Glorious Foods activity and instructions, you can find them here: www.uen.org/Lessonplan/preview.cgi?LPid=4765The PDF if here: www.uen.org/Lessonplan/downloadFile.cgi?file=4765-2-9161-Glorious_Foods.pdf&filename=Glorious_Foods.pdfPass out to each woman the paper called "Glorious Foods". Have the women circle all of the foods on the paper that they eat. Have them put an "X" through any foods that they won't eat. Now have the women fold the worksheet in half lengthwise and then in thirds. Ask them to open the worksheet and discuss, identify and label each food group and the number of servings needed each day. You can have the women identify the foods they like and dislike to make sure they are eating a well-balanced diet from all of the food groups and can see what areas they need to improve in. These are the instructions from the Utah Education Network. How do YOU use the Glorious Foods activity in group?

Another nutrition activity sites have shared is having participants draw on white paper plates a meal they have eaten in the past week. Then facilitate a discussion about who has foods from each of the food groups. Use crayons / markers so people get the visual of colors which are a good indicator of fruits and veggies.

I use some Target Weight materials I created to help facilitate discussion. There is a SAS to complete, then group questions and goals to have them fill in. We have had good conversations with large posters of the food pyramid discussing portions needed daily, other posters related to nutrition can be used if desired, or just ask the group to suggest healthy snack ideas, etc.. I am interested in Centering because: As a military spouse myself, I can see the HUGE benefit Centering has to our expectant moms who are often many miles from home with no friends or family nearby! I feel like the Centering model is a perfect fit for our environment!

I noticed there is a new version of Glorious Foods in the new Facilitator's Guide....do you happen to have a "clean" digital copy you can provide so that I don't have to copy it from the book?

Hi there,
You are welcome to make copies of the Glorious Foods page (from the Facilitator's Guides) for use with your Centering groups. Very sorry, but we do not have a pdf of this single page to share.

I thought this was in the process? It looks a little tacky when we copy it from the book. Is there any way to get a clean PDF of the new version?
