Dear Centering Partner,
Centering is changing the face of healthcare and during this exciting time we are growing and evolving. The Centering Healthcare Institute (CHI) Board of Directors and staff continually reflect on the feedback and experiences from Centering sites and providers on our front lines. Recently, we took the opportunity to ensure that the foundation and intent of Centering is clearly reflected in the Centering Essential Elements to accomplish meaningful model fidelity. This has resulted in a repackaging of our Essential Elements.
We want to emphasize that the core components of Centering, health assessment, interactive learning and community building, are unwavering. The Essential Elements, serving as a blueprint for model implementation and ensuring quality and consistency of Centering care across sites, needed to be revisited.
We have repackaged the Essential Elements to simplify them and speak to the intent and philosophy behind Centering. They have the same meaning, but some were combined, resulting in a smaller number of more cohesive elements. Ultimately, adherence to the Centering Essential Elements is a result of the partnership between CHI and Centering sites.
Community is such a critical component of Centering and we know there cannot be a “one size fits all” approach to model fidelity, but we are here to help you navigate. We understand the challenges of keeping Centering going, and our hope is that the repackaged Essential Elements, with help from CHI, will give you a clear guide for the path to Site Approval.
The repackaged Essential Elements will be reflected gradually in materials and CenteringCounts™ over the next year or so. During this time, please continue to use all materials and CenteringCounts.
Together, the core components and Essential Elements make Centering the gold standard in group health care. We could not do any of this without each and every one of you and your commitment to healthier moms, babies and families. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding this announcement.
Sincerely,
Angie Truesdale
