We are looking to get more robust information from evaluation. We find much of what is asked on the current Facilitators Process evaluation to be ineffective in helping us to strengthen our program. To me this should be the purpose of evaluation should be to find the gaps fill them and excell in areas that make a difference to the women we serve and the providers that facilitate. Is anyone using an evaluation in addition to that provided by CHI to capture this data? A type of results based accountability ? Kathleen Syracuse NY

Kathleen, thanks for the feedback. Are you familiar with our CenteringCounts quality assurance tools? They consist of surveys and spreadsheet that help you track key measures around model fidelity, sustainability and patient outcomes. Your CHI Practice Services Manager will be happy to send you the tool set and walk you through how to use them.

Hi Kathleen, Although it looks at some of the model fidelity indicators, the Facilitator Process Evaluation is designed as tool to help each facilitator team monitor their specific group over each individual 10 session time span - as opposed to being an evaluation tool for gathering data. I have seen sites create a modified tool after they are comfortable with actually doing assessments in a timely manner etc. It can be more helpful (especially if you are doing multiple groups) to keep track of openings, closings and concerns re material covered and participant interaction from session to session. Also how present was I and were we facilitative vs talking too much. Is there a way we could have handled (a topic or interaction) better given these circumstances. The reason we include the form in our assessment tools and look at it as a part of model fidelity is as a way of demonstrating how and if faciliators are working together to monitor their groups for the benefit of the participants and to grow each other as facilitators - as with most tools it is not the only way to achieve the results. Hope that this helps! Margie
