Hi. I'm Sue, the new Director of Midwifery at The Cleveland Clinic-West Side. We are just getting our Centering program up and running, but I've done it for years! Hoping that we can get everyone in Cleveland to get their care through Centering!

Hello everyone, My name is Nina Smolinski BSN, RN, SANE-A Trained. I work at MetroHealth Medical Center a Level 1 Trauma Center in the heart of Cleveland Ohio. I have been here for 23 years in various roles. I'm currently working as a OB Care Coordinator helping patients get and stay connected to us and resources to help them through their pregnancy needs. Our organization is beginning the process of implementing Centering Pregnancy as we are high on the list for Infant Mortality in the state of Ohio and particularly in Cleveland. I'm extremely enthusiastic to begin this process and even more excited to truly reach out to our communities and make a difference. For these reasons I have joined Centering Connect to gather input from those who are all ready implementing this wonderful program. I will be the coordinator/facilitator for Centering pregnancy here at MetroHealth.

I am Elizabeth Sandifer. I'm a CNM from Rowan School of Medicine OB/GYN. I see patients in one of three offices and we deliver at Kennedy Health System in Washington Township, NJ. I signed up for CenteringConnects as I am both a new midwife and completely new to the Centering model. Any words of wisdom or ideas for exercises/activities are completely welcome and I am excited/energized to implement my training with my mothers!

Are you new to CenteringConnects? Introduce yourself to our community. Tell us about yourself, your healthcare system or facility, your role and why you signed up to be a CenteringConnects member. Hello, My name is Nurse Sessoms and I am new to Centering Connects. I am currently working at the Brooklyn Site (Bedford Stuyvesant Family Health Center) as a nurse, Centering Pregnancy Coordinator, facilitator, and team leader for our Centering Pregnancy Steering Committee. Originally I had not signed up for this project but I am very glad that I was chosen. The women and their support persons have brought me so much joy, insight, and understanding of group and community camaraderie. We have recently finished our very first group in which the mothers did exchanged numbers, are currently breastfeeding, and have brought their babies to pediatrics and made recommendation to continue Centering. The team effort at our site was awesome. I really enjoyed attending the Consortium in Rochester New York to see what other sites are doing in Centering.

I am interested in Centering because: I want to make a difference in someones life for the better and help educate them about the better way of healthcare. I am passionate about what I do with our Centering Program at Kaiser Permanente. I love the lifelong friendships that I build while going thru the journey of pregnancy for all of my patients. I love the personal care that patients receive and I love to keep our groups fun and current. Coming up on being accredited for a year in Jan 2018 and we have grown so much. Already starting 2 groups a month starting Dec 2017, beat our goal to start 2 by a month. #MicDrop

Hey there!! My name is Amy Donaldson and I am a Co-Facilitator and Centering Lead Coordinator for Grouphealth in Bellevue,WA. Kaiser Permanente have acquired us and we will officially be Kaiser March 6th, 2017.I have been there for almost 4 months and have been doing Centering since Day 1, but had previous experience with Centering Pregnancy at Swedish Medical Group in Issaquah, WA and that is where I was introduced to Centering and went thru the journey with them while they had their site visit and CERTIFICATION!We had our site visit for certification in December at Grouphealth and hope to know soon if we have the honor to be among the sites that are officially certified. Sunshine, our site visitor was an absolute rockstar. I am so passionate to be this involved with a patients pregnancy journey and lets face it, it is a journey because you can never predict what is going to happen. But you are on this ride together as a group, as a family for some. Almost 4 months ago I came to Grouphealth and the groups I was attending were like 5-7 people attending. I was used to always having at least 10-12, no less. So I have suggested a few things, revamp their recruitment paper for patients and tweak and few other things to make things flow better. This coming Saturday will be the 2 group that I will be starting and we have 11 people that are "excited" and "can't wait" to start this journey. The first group that I started we had recruited a total of 11 but one opted out. So I am very excited to take this baby (Centering) under my wing with the little experience I do have and fly with it. I cannot wait to hang that certificate in our office. Centering is an amazing thing and I wish I had offered when I had my children, its not necessarily better healthcare but its different healthcare and we learn so much from each other in Centering. I have also suggested to the lead midwife that the other co-facilitators get registered on Centering Connects. There is so much valuable information on here and its a great resource if you want to switch things up a bit for a certain session, try something different that maybe someone else tried. Keep up all the amazing things you all are doing because you really are changing lives and the way patients view healthcare. Sorry for the book but I am so proud at the growth we have done in the short amount of time that I have been there.
Thanks- Amy Donaldson CMA Co-Facilitator and Centering Lead Coordinator Grouphealth - Bellevue,WA

Hi! My name is Katherine Bochetto. I work for Rochester Regional Health System in Rochester, NY. I work at the Women's Center at Alexander Park as a social worker. I have been a co-facilitator in groups for almost a year now and have really enjoyed the experience. I am always looking for ways to not only celebrate our Centering success but seek ways improve Centering at our site as well. I look forward to using this forum frequently to help me do this! Hi Katherine, I am sorry I missed your post earlier. I wanted to let you know of a couple of opportunities that come up for extra learning in the Rochester area. In the fall, generally around National Prematurity Day, we hold a Centering Thruway conference for all folks implementing Centering. This day is both educational as well as a great opportunity to network with others who are Centering. At our November 17th meeting we shared best practices/Centering Successes from around the state. If you have something you would like to share for next year, I would love to hear from you. Secondly, Valerie Garrison from the Healthy Baby Network in Rochester regularly holds Basic & Advanced Centering Workshops during the year. Please contact her if you have staff who need training. You can contact me at grotundo@centeringhealthcare.org Please keep up the good work. I am sure you are making a difference for the women & families that you care for.
