I work at a: Healthcare Facility
My job role is: Healthcare Provider
I am interested in Centering because: I want to make a difference in someones life for the better and help educate them about the better way of healthcare. I am passionate about what I do with our Centering Program at Kaiser Permanente. I love the lifelong friendships that I build while going thru the journey of pregnancy for all of my patients. I love the personal care that patients receive and I love to keep our groups fun and current. Coming up on being accredited for a year in Jan 2018 and we have grown so much. Already starting 2 groups a month starting Dec 2017, beat our goal to start 2 by a month. #MicDrop

Awww thank you! I try! I strongly believe in this program and want it to be successful and the most fun! If it seems like a classroom setting or you go over the same things day in and day out then people won't recommend it and word of mouth is the BEST way to recruit. Here is a photo of our Centering team. Left to right Neha Patel, CMA, Mallory Betz CNM, Karen McConnell CNM, Diane Baskin-Thompson CNM, Ruth MacDonald-Schmidt CMA, Front :(red, white and blue scrubs) Me(Amy)CMA& Centering Lead Coordinator, Lauren Smrcina CNM, and Odessa Dodd CMA,not pictured is Nicki Ullery CNM. Amazing group of women doing amazing things with Centering.

Lookit all those smiling ladies! Love it : D It's so nice to put faces to names, thank you Amy! You are so sweet, That pic will change soon, we have added 2 other midwives to Centering and 1 wasn't in this pic, and one of the MA's is leaving. But EVERYONE will be at our in house training on April 10th ! Were so excited about that, I put the finishing touches on making sure we include everyone that has a hand in Centering from the front office staff (their manager will be sending at least one of their girls) the scheduler (who schedules for all 3 of our clinics) her manager also confirmed today that she can attend, then a few people from our other two clinics who need the training will be traveling to our clinic to train. We have the privilege of our Lead Midwife to be trained so she can do the in-house training. And our awesome administration is going to purchase lunch for all of us while we are doing training. I totally believe that in order for things to run smooth someone from EVERY dept of the process of Centering needs to know what it is about, what we do and that way when a patient asks .... they can answer the question rather than said I don't know. They are also excited and grateful that I have pushed for at least one person to attend from each dept so they can learn about it. Lol one of the girls even told me today that her coworkers are actually jealous that she gets to go. But she can go back after the training (they only need to stay for the first few hours) but they can go back and explain to the other front office staff and explain what it is, I plan on writing some stuff up , maybe some good talking points to get the patient thinking about Centering when they check the patient in. The recruitment raffle we have going right now is soooooo popular and the ppl who have NEVER recruited or talked to patients about Centering well lets just say those 3 ppl have each recruited 6 ppl WOW!!!!! We are currently talking to one of the newer midwives about starting a different day of the week, since becoming accredited I can not brag enough about how awesome my boss Judi is and how amazing the other administration staff have been and I have not felt more supported in my position as Centering Coordinator since I have been there. Were growing with very minimal growing pains!!!! Persistence pays off and Communication is key! I am so proud to work for such an amazing organization and I feel fully supported by everyone I work with.

Hi, I'm Judy Vastine, RNC-OB and IBCLC at the El Rio Birth & Women's Health Center in Tucson AZ. We've been a part of CenteringPregnancy for many years. We're very happy to have recently added a Family Practice doc to our CNM providers. Now that many babies (and families) are staying in our practice, we're starting our first CenteringParenting group May 19!
I look forward to learning from all of you.
Judy
