In collaboration with the Family Medicine Residency Center in Muncie, we are conducting a pre/post survey on resident physicians’ attitudes towards CenteringPregnancy both before and after they have been exposed to the sessions either as a facilitator or as an observer, as well as among those residents who have not been exposed to Centering in their facilities. Right now we are recruiting centers with Family Medicine and OBGYN residents to participate in a brief online survey. I would love to recruit centers who may be interested in participating in this research or somehow get a list of those centers in Indiana who are doing Centering so I can reach out to them personally. This study has been approved by the Institutional Review Board of IU Health.
The purpose of the study is to assess residents’ (family medicine and OBGYN) likelihood of implementing a group model of prenatal care (i.e. CenteringPregnancy) in their future practices. We hypothesize that exposure to the model of CenteringPregnancy during their residency program, whether through training, observation of group sessions, or direct facilitation, will positively influence their perceived likelihood of implementing a group model of prenatal care in their future practice, as compared to residents who are not exposed to CenteringPregnancy during their residency program.
