The question came up recently about whether two or three facilitators are needed, especially to oversee women's self-assessments and labs. I wanted to share the discussion here for anyone else to chime in!
Response #1: You don't need three facilitators, just two (provider +1). It's really up to each site if they want to have a 2 or 3 person "facilitation team" but you need to be mindful of the staff/women ratio if you add a 3rd - the group needs to be on the larger size (10+ women).
Response #2: I agree - you only need one provider and another facilitator. If you want a 3rd to do labs or anything else, like an MA (if the MA is not your other facilitator), that's fine but not required.
Response #3: Some sites find having a 3rd for 30 minutes at the beginning of the first few groups helpful till they get it all going. Is this specifically about labs? Conversation around labs usually includes the following options.
1. Sending people to the lab for draws on break or after group
2. Having lab come to group on break or after group
3. Having the 2nd facilitator draw labs in group on break or after group.
My bias is not to disrupt group for labs unless it is the only option, but some do it in the room during group.
