We love reading to babies and children of all ages. It not only teaches them language and communication but it also enhances cognitive development. In your CenteringParenting groups, choose a book with simple text, bold/high contrast colors, faces, and/or rhyme. Then read aloud - getting on the floor and holding the book at a level the child can see. Vary your tone and volume, use a singsong voice, pause, ask questions (even if your audience can't answer yet) while pointing and tapping on the book to engage them. WHat are some of your favorite books to read in your groups?

I work at a: Healthcare Facility
My job role is: Healthcare Provider
I am interested in Centering because: I want to make a difference in someones life for the better and help educate them about the better way of healthcare. I am passionate about what I do with our Centering Program at Kaiser Permanente. I love the lifelong friendships that I build while going thru the journey of pregnancy for all of my patients. I love the personal care that patients receive and I love to keep our groups fun and current. Coming up on being accredited for a year in Jan 2018 and we have grown so much. Already starting 2 groups a month starting Dec 2017, beat our goal to start 2 by a month. #MicDrop

We don't read books as a group, my next mission to tackle is to build a small library, with books that patients can check out throughout their pregnancy, and return once its been read, Pt's did this at my last job in Centering and they really liked it, they love to learn and love to learn anything about what is going on with them or what to expect ect. Since were in Bellevue, its pretty techy up here, and the patients love their apps,I was thinking about asking CHI, what kind of apps do you recommend for patients to reference stuff too, I could put together a list of apps that they may find helpful, like I said in another post with Ishia (sp) that you need to keep it current, new ideas, fun themes, decorations and FRESH healthy food. Could you possibly shoot me some ideas about what apps are being used often, or apps that you may have heard other patients like or use? Thanks so much!

Would love to see suggestions for pregnancy and parenting apps. How are you using technology in groups?

I'm going to pose this question in the Cpreg and CPar boards and see if we can get some app recommendations for you. I'll "tag" you in it.
