I know that there are sites that have rolling admission groups and we will be starting this in one of our smaller clinics in a couple of months. I am wondering how you schedule these groups. Do sites schedule one per month, one every 3 weeks, or some other way? Also, any advice or input on challenges to consider with rolling groups would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Alison, We currently have one rolling group at our site, with another beginning in May at a different clinic. We have one specifically for Spanish-Speaking patients, as the group isn't currently big enough to sustain a normal Centering structure. We are also using the rolling admission for our new site, which again, doesn't quite have the numbers to sustain a full group just yet. Our hope is to eventually move these to a typical scheduling structure, but for now the rolling admission has worked well in getting these groups off the ground! A challenge can be getting a consistent group of patients there each month, but we actually haven't had much of a problem with that at all. We've been doing once a month, as that has been what's worked best for us.The curriculum and session schedule can be tricky when you have women at different stages, but we've found it helpful to try and condense the necessary material into 7 or 8 sessions, not knowing where in their pregnancy our patients will be. We follow the same sequence of topics and use the same activities, but our facilitators also make sure to come prepared to leave wiggle room for the many topics that may arise. Best of luck to you all!

Thanks Elizabeth! This is really helpful. We are starting our first rolling group in 2 weeks at our satellite office. I have 6 people on the list so far, hopefully they will all come!
